Members of Colby’s Most Academically Competitive and Diverse Admitted Student Class to Visit Campus
A record number of admitted students—almost 500 total—will visit Colby’s campus for the Class of 2021 Admitted Students Program April 20-22. Students will participate in a variety of programming highlighting the breadth of academic and cocurricular offerings at Colby.
This year’s admitted student cohort is the most academically competitive and broadly diverse in Colby’s history. It includes applicants from 49 states, the District of Columbia, and more than 50 countries. A total of 1,750 students were admitted from an applicant pool of 11,190. With an acceptance rate of 16 percent, Colby remains among the most selective liberal arts colleges in the country.
“We remain humbled by the extraordinary talents of the admitted students,” said Vice President for Admissions and Financial Aid Matt Proto. “Colby’s multidisciplinary approach, our focus on cutting-edge fields like computational biology and environmental humanities, and our partnerships with renowned institutions and our local community make the College a great fit for the most talented students from around the world.”
The three-day event includes opportunities for students to attend sessions highlighting the distinctive offerings of the College, speak with alumni about their educational experiences and professional careers, meet with faculty, students, and staff, and fully immerse themselves in the vibrant community on Mayflower Hill.
“We look forward to welcoming these wonderful students to campus,” said Associate Dean and Director of Admissions Randi Arsenault ’09. “Hundreds of faculty, staff, students, and many other members of our community have come together to develop an exciting program—one we think will give visiting students the chance to experience the breadth of opportunities at Colby, and the warmth of our collaborative culture.”
